Dr. Cris Piessens is trained in the use of PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin), a technique which consists in the centrifugation of the patient’s natural blood that allows obtaining fibrin membranes enriched with platelets and growth factors that will help accelerate bone and gum healing during dental implant and bone grafting procedures or even extractions with socket preservation techniques.

It is safe and convenient since PRF harvesting is done with only 10 cc to 20 cc of blood in the Dentist’s office while the patient is ondergoing the outpatient surgical procedure. Depending on the patient’s situation, the Dentist may supplement the PRF clot with different biomaterials.

For patients with significant bone loss, a combination of PRF and bone growth material may also be used to promote natural bone regeneration.
